Madness, just Madness!

So our Internet provider has dropped the connection. How do I know? Well, things stopped working. So I call Comcast and tell them that things are not so good here.

Snappy tech insists that my cable modem is at fault. So I go swap my old Motorola Surfboard for some newfangled el cheapo made overseas. Plug it in, and guess what?

NO SERVICE! That is correct, no service. How odd. The infinitely knowledgeable tech was wrong? No way!

That being said, I spent some time configuring my desktop to use my Verizon Wireless Broadband USB stick to access the internet. I am back online.

I even was able to install ntop:
###########################################################
# A startup item has been generated that will aid in
# starting ntop with launchd. It is disabled
# by default. Execute the following command to start it,
# and to cause it to launch at startup:
#
# sudo launchctl load -w /Library/LaunchDaemons/org.macports.ntop.plist
###########################################################
