A Scary Day

Due to a high concentration of cleaning chemicals in a client’s office, I suffered a terrible attack of respiratory distress. It was so bad that coworkers called 911. A police unit, an ambulance and a haz-mat vehicle all responded to the situation. Not only was it scary, but downright embarrassing, too.

Fortunately, I did not need transport to the hospital.

After things had calmed down, I was on the phone outside with the client, when the most stupid person in the world carried the offending bucket of cleaning solvent over to a storm drain less than 5 feet from me and proceeded to splash the solution everywhere.

I ran for my life.

If it were possible to have this guy arrested for attempted manslaughter, I would do so in a heartbeat – the same heartbeat I almost didn’t have anymore because of him.

As a follow-up, I received a text message from another co-worker who said that 5 hours later the strong chemical smell was still lingering all over the parking lot. OSHA would have a field day with this violation.
