Fantastic!

Naomi and I took a road trip yesterday to the most wonderful establishment… Glenmere Mansion. Sitting high on a hilltop overlooking the serene Glenmere Lake, this jewel commands sweeping views of the entire valley. Truly magnificent.

And that is before you get inside…

The $30M restoration is evident everywhere. The attention to detail bespeaks the highest quality. Definitely done by a team that appreciates the ambiance that such surroundings provide.

The food and service matched the beauty of the hotel. The staff were professional, prompt and courteous. The food was excellent, and very moderately priced considering the venue. A larger selection of cognac WOULD be nice, but I did have some Martell Cordon Bleu, which was decent enough.

After we ate, I went for a quick look-see around the interior. An eager employee was quick to inform me that I had entered an area that was for hotel guests only. Since I had gotten permission to look around previously, I explained that and was graciously offered a guided tour by said person.

Fortunately for me, one of the hotel owners, Alan, happened to be nearby. With extreme grace, he came over and introduced himself. I was then further impressed by his eagerness to show me around himself, instead of letting his minion handle it. He exuded genuine hospitality, not the fake corporate spin-talk, but the real “comes-from-the-guts” sort, the kind that makes me feel at home. Alan is the epitome of the gracious host, just like the hotel he built is the quintessential example of modern elegance.

I applaud the Glenmere Mansion for excellence in every respect. Both Naomi and I are eagerly anticipating our next visit, which cannot come soon enough.
