The Legacy of Freedom?

What have we done with the legacy of freedom given to us by the sacrifices of this nation’s founders?

We are now a culture driven by consumption. Economic growth at the expense of the health of the planet cannot be sustained, and can lead only to disaster. We have lost proper perspective and balance.

How can the USA have a $14 TRILLION deficit? What does it cost each year in interest? Our government is FAILING in every way to protect our common interest. We are viewed as CONSUMERS, sheeple to be fleeced.

Given the explosive population growth, our planet will be unable to support the continual exploitation of the Earth’s resources. Look at how terrible China’s air pollution has gotten. It is so bad that the Olympic games in Beijing were marred by the fumes.

Worldwide events seem to point clearly to a vast increase in destructive storms everywhere. The clues are all around us. Pay attention!

We engineer systems designed to fail in the face of certain natural disasters. Look at Japan’s situation, or the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

If this trend is not REVERSED, if we do not take responsibility for healing our world, we will not have a world left to live in much more quickly than ANYONE anticipates…
