How to Sort WordPress NextGen Galleries

Open up the NexGen Gallery dropdown menu and click on “options”. Once there, click on the “gallery” tab. About half way down the page there is a “Sort Order” section. It claims to apply only to thumbnails, but it will change the order that the images appear as well.
Click “custom order” and save the changes. Now go to to the Manage Galleries section, and click on the gallery you want to change. Click on the “Sort Gallery” button that appears at the top of the image list. Simply drag and drop the order of images, then click update.
